What’s the thing with Human and those awards?

So many shiny things.

Our first MIXX award for best website landed back in 2011. It was great. We’ve won eleven more since. Still great :)

Could say we don’t care, but we do. It’s important to get recognition for something one invests a lot of love and energy into.

Clients could say they don’t care, but they do. It’s not the most important part, but it helps build trust. And you can’t have a great relationship without trust.

Let’s take a stroll down the award alley...

2023.

Roto Dinamic

Roto, the top beverage distributor in Croatia with a 30% market share, decided to eliminate manual ordering. The goal was to streamline the process, reduce call center and sales representatives' work, and focus on customer relations, sales growth, and cost-cutting. Solution? A tailored B2B mobile app that makes ordering for bar and restaurant owners easier, faster, and more user-friendly.

Results

18% share of mobile orders within a total volume in the first 6 months, €1.3 million average monthly revenue from mobile orders. The app scored a solid 4.7 on app stores, 17% of the call center workforce was shifted to other sales activities.

2023.

Journal

Journal is the most famous lifestyle news site in Croatia. Their team decided to get fresh appeal for a new audience while maintaining familiarity for their loyal followers, and a redesign was in order. So we revamped their look, improved the user experience and enabled editors to further highlight important parts with engaging photos and interactive content. Developed a solution that supports scalability. Provided a better editorial experience with our intuitive and custom-designed CMS. Bellissimo.

Results

34% improvement of load time, 64% more average daily real users, more than 90 editor hours saved per month (so they can focus on creating great content), and a 50% revenue increase within just 3 months from launch.

2021.

Coolinarika

Coolinarika is a favorite digital recipe book for many in Croatia and neighboring countries. To help users quickly find their desired recipes and get inspired, we developed Taste Machine – a machine-learning solution that constantly learns about users and gives them exactly what they need.

2020.

Human

Great client. Highly recommended. 5/5 stars.

Jokes aside, after 18 years of being web.burza, we decided to rebrand and build ourselves a new website. We became (remained) Human, and with our human-oriented approach, gained a lot of affection. Oh, and awards too. Besides the MIXX, this website won the Webbie, Red Dot, Lovie, W3, and Indigo awards.

2014.

Zadovoljna

Lifestyle portal targeted primarily at women. Responsive web design was new back then. We focused on simplifying the user experience and increasing engagement.

Results

50% more visitors, 200% more pageviews, 107% more pages per visit.

2015.

Podravka

Podravka is one of the leading Food & Beverages companies in the SouthEast, Central and Eastern Europe.

The main goal was to shift target audience from business users towards consumers.

Research showed that:

They want ideas, not just products
They want to be told stories instead of pure facts
And they want to be guided

We thought of some of the most common life situations and built stories around them

Searching for products had to be easy for everyone. We provided guidance but also created a system where they can select and combine product type, main ingredient, meal type, brand, and get products that exactly meet those criteria.

Results

The audience now consists of more than 87% consumers. Organic traffic increased by 72% and mobile visitors by 175%.

2016.

RTL

RTL, one of the largest TV stations in Croatia, wanted to reposition their online appearance. Main objectives were to clearly separate news, TV and VoD segments into separate websites and adapt each of them to users and their needs.

Results

77% more pageviews, 59% increased average visit duration.

2011.

Coolinarika

Coolinarika was our first. You never forget your first.

We were invited to help Podravka redesign its cooking portal, evolve it into community and position it as a market leader.

Results

Coolinarika became a top cooking and lifestyle destination in the EX-YU region. More than 4.000.000 visitors and 45.000.000 pageviews per month. 180.000+ recipes, 1.400.000+ photos, 10.000.000+ comments.

2017.

Lino

Lino is Croatia’s sweetest bear and a brand name for kids’ food, cream spreads and cereals.

Lino wanted to speak directly to different targets, round up a community around his brand and attract new customers. He wanted to make it fun and fortify it's brand’s leader positions. Oh, and make it mobile friendly.

Results

178% more visitors, 280% more mobile visitors, 350.000+ games and quizzes played.

2018.

A1

A1 is one of the leading Croatian Telecoms, part of the A1 Group.

The goal was to increase online sales and customer base on a website.

Understanding the customers turned out to be key. We simplified the experience, made it easier to use. We designed a smart service configurator which guides the user through buying process intuitively. Also, we allowed the users to continue the purchase process through call center or in the store, starting from the point where user has stopped on the website.

Results

Onlines sales went up by 89% compared to previous quarter, assistant and configurator generated 95% more leads, and lead conversion went up by more than 20%.

2019.

Diners

In the new digital world of finance, websites are the reflection of credit card’s ability to cope with challenges of tomorrow. When Diners Club came wanting to redesign their old website, we grabbed the challenge with both hands.

Goals were to upgrade user experience and communication in order to increase number of online card orders.

Results

Bounce rate dropped by 40%, which speaks a lot about user experience. Conversion rate, which was our main goal, went up by a whoping 362%.

So, how do we do it?

Here’s what Vanja, our CEO and chief strategist, had to say about it.

Don’t stop when the client says he’s happy. Carry on until you’re happy, and then some more. Be a stubborn mule. Ask yourself and others the hard questions (eg. why this approach, what are the goals, why those goals matter, …). Dig deep while looking for insights. Be critical to your own ideas. Defend ideas you believe in. Don’t make stuff for yourself, make them for the users. Test things early. Don’t ask users how they feel, watch what they do. Understand what’s broken and fix it. Measure everything. Understand what those numbers really mean. Use them to inform your future decisions. Iterate and make it better. And then start again :)

We’ll keep pushing ourselves to figure stuff out and make great things. Hope it gets us a few more of those. Both clients and awards :)
